How We Built the Largest Commercial Print Farm in the USA
The Slant 3D Megafarm is a multi-thousand machine 3D Printing factory. We produce thousands of parts per week. Parts ranging from cookie cutters for Etsy Stores to Industrial Hardware.
Right now Slant 3D is the largest 3D Printing service in the United States, just by shear machine volume. And anyone can access it. Again, companies can order 100,000 parts directly through our website. And a high school kid can vibe code a 3d printing application on our API. We have built 3D Printing infrastructure that anyone can access.
But it took a lot of work.
Slant 3D was started in 2019 in Boise Idaho. We started as an alternative to injection molding. But over time we worked to make the promise of 3D Printing real. Any object you want only when it is ordered.
The first machines we used were purchased on Amazon. then we started developing our Mason 3D Printers. Machines designed specifically for 3D Print Farms. Machines that could operate for years producing parts reliably.
In 2022 we started building the Megafarm. Our main building used to hold 3 locomotives at once as they came off the assembly line with an army of men welding them together.
In 2023 we released our first version of the API. A simple connection that allows any developer to just upload a model and have the printed part delivered to a customer.
Since then we have been on a mission to make it easier and easier to get a part made. On the API we build Teleport, so users did not have to be a developer in order to connect to our print farm. Ecommerce stores could just plug right in.
But then we saw friction in the creation of stores. So we made Portals. Now anyone can just upload a model and be selling in 30 seconds.
Then we saw the friction was in the creation of a model. So recently we released the SlantTools applications. Tools that use AI to create parts and pieces easily enough that your grandma could do it.
We think it should be possible for your Grandma to take a picture of a dishwasher part and have it delivered to her a day or two later.
To do that our print farms are some of the most advanced in the world. We don't simply have a bunch of machines on shelves. We track and observe everything.

When a part is submitted to us, our system does a full analysis on it. Evaluating the design and seeing if there are points of concern. If accepted by the API then it it goes into our Kraken production control system. This software controls everything inside of our factory through the life of the parts.
Kraken selects the ideal settings for printing the part. Making sure strength and aesthetics are maximized and cost is minimized.
The part is sliced and then Kraken selects the best machine for it.
Kraken is an optimization system. It chooses which machine and which part in order to make sure that parts are shipped as fast as possible. For example, if a part is a first time order it will be expedited in order to make sure the first experience is the best possible. This means it will pick a machine closer to Post Processing so that the part does not have to travel too far.
When a part is completed it is collected from a machine. It is scanned into a tracked box to make sure that it can never be missed or confused.
Then it goes to QC and Post Processing. Supports are removed and the part is inspected for any defects. This is a human and AI check to ensure that only the highest quality goes out the door. (Some users might notice that White parts ship slower. White shows every defect. If there is a 1mm spot on a 200mm part that part is rejected.)
After QC, the part is scanned into a standing inventory to wait for other parts in the order. And then it is packed and shipped out in premium packaging. (White box with colored interior crinkle paper).
During the normal season ~80% of parts ship in under 2 business days. As fast as most warehouses can pick and order.
In 2026, we were able to drop our print on demand prices by nearly 40% in some cases from the efficiency of the system we have built.
All of this is the culmination of a thousand small improvements and innovations in how Print Farms are operated. The traditional print farm runs SD cards to machines manually. Our system is a hive mind of production.
We often say that a Print Farm is a "Warehouse where the shelves make the product." That is our product target in everything we do. How do we get closer to that implementation.
Today we continue to scale our system. We have multiple more Megafarms planned around the USA to add to our already impressive capacity. But we must improve the product to deliver parts faster.
Today Slant 3D is the largest and most advanced print service on the Planet. China does not even touch it (Manually running SD Card). But that is only possible through our continuous improvement and growth.
Every day we try to make the product better, faster, cheaper. And we will continue to do it.
