Turn 3D Printed Parts Into More Valuable Products

A 3D printed part can be the starting point for a complete product. Add a light, a wireless charging puck, magnets, or a few screws, and a simple printed design becomes something with a practical purpose—and more value for the customer.

The Teleport 3rd Party Parts catalog brings these components together with photos, dimensions, and ideas for using them. Instead of designing every element from scratch, you can design the printed portion around an existing component.

From printed shade to lamp

A custom shade is interesting. A working lamp is a product.

Combine a printed shade or base with lighting hardware to create desk lamps, pendant lights, or decorative nightlights. The catalog includes puck lights, LED bulbs, and hanging bulb cords. A remote-control RGB puck light, for example, could turn a printed display or decorative enclosure into an illuminated product.

The printed design gives the lamp its shape and character. The third-party hardware supplies the light. Design for ventilation, safe clearances, and the heat generated by the lighting components; not every printed material is suitable for every lamp.

From phone stand to wireless charger

A phone stand holds a phone. Add a wireless charging puck and it can become a charging station.

The catalog includes a wireless charging puck (SL016) and a 15W wireless charging puck (SL017). Design a printed desk stand, bedside dock, or organizer around the component to create a more useful product without developing your own charging electronics.

Check the puck dimensions, cable routing, phone compatibility, and charging alignment. The thickness of the printed material between the puck and phone also needs to be tested.

Small components, bigger possibilities

The same approach works beyond lamps and chargers:

- Magnets can add removable lids and interchangeable accessories. - Screws can make printed products easier to assemble and service. - Adhesive mounts can turn an organizer into a wall-mounted product. - Lights can bring printed signs and display pieces to life.

Build the product, not just the part

Third-party components can be added alongside 3D printed parts in an order to create a more complete product. When planning a product for the Slant 3D API, Portals, or Teleport, identify the hardware by its SL code and confirm availability, how it will be included, and any assembly requirements with Slant 3D before launching.

Start with a component, design around its dimensions, and test a physical sample. Then you have more than a printed shape: you have a product people can use.

Explore the third-party parts catalog or contact Slant 3D to discuss your product.
