3D Printed Face Shield to help with supply shortages around Covid-19

This post includes a means of ordering 3D Printed face shield parts as well as the 3D Printing files for several Face Shield designs. We do want to note that these devices are considered to be a last resort option only to be use if there are no other options.

The Slant 3D Face Shield

We have looked at every design that has come forward so far for 3D Printed face shields and facemasks. The Prusa design seemed to be the most flexible and comfortable. But it was not very manufacturable. There was far too much detail and it took far to long to print (Nearly 2.5-3.5 hours depending on settings). So we used it as a baseline and created our own 3D printable face mask design

Our shield frame is also compatible with Prusa's shield window design so there is less confusion and compatibility issues.

This 3D printed shield can be printed reliably in 1.5-2.5 hours from PLA and is completely flexible so that it is quite comfortable to wear.

We have put the shield into production at our factory so it is available immediately to anyone that needs it regardless of if they have a printer.

The Prusa Protective Face Shield

Prusa came out with one of the first designs for a 3D printed face shield. It is a good design. But the hexagons and large surface area require longer printer times and make the part more prone to failure during printing.

Budmen industries created a simple face shield early in the outbreak. Is is a simple design that can be printed quickly. But it has little flexibility and does not support the plastic window sheet very well.
